A2P 10DLC Registration for SMS Messaging in Dewy

Every practice that sends text messages to U.S. phone numbers must complete a carrier registration called A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person, 10-Digit Long Code). Carriers require it to cut down on spam, and unregistered senders get filtered.

The Dewy team walks through this with you during onboarding. This article is the field-by-field reference for the registration form in your Dewy account.

Before you begin

  • Only Admin users can complete registration.
  • The form can be submitted once and cannot be edited afterward. Check everything before you submit.
  • Carriers, not Dewy, run the review. Approval typically takes 5 to 7 business days.
  • You need a valid Tax ID or EIN. Businesses without one cannot register.
  • Your website must already have compliant privacy and terms language. Read An Overview of SMS Verification Requirements first; most rejections trace back to this.

How to register

Step 1: Start registration

In your Dewy account go to SMS, then Registration, and click Register next to United States.

Step 2: Business information

  • Select your Business ID Type
  • Enter your Tax ID or EIN
  • Enter your legal business name and address exactly as they appear on your IRS or state registration

A mismatch between what you enter here and your official records is the single most common cause of rejection. Click Next: Account Owner.

Step 3: Account owner

Enter the person responsible for texting at your practice: name, email, phone, and job title. Click Next: Opt-ins.

Step 4: Opt-in details

Explain how patients consent to texts. You will need:

  • A link to your Privacy Policy (with the required SMS language)
  • A link to your Terms of Service (with an SMS Communications section)
  • Your primary opt-in method: website form, paper form, text keyword, or other

If your opt-in form does not have a public URL, upload screenshots that show the consent language next to the phone field. Click Next: Use Cases.

Step 5: Use case

  • A short description of why you text patients (appointment reminders, follow-up, promotions)
  • Two example messages in the format Dewy sends, for example: Bright Dermatology: Your consult is tomorrow at 2:00 PM. Reply STOP to opt out
  • Whether messages will contain links or phone numbers (answer yes; most will)

Click Next: Get Your Number.

Step 6: Choose your texting number

Dewy suggests an area code based on your business address. To change it, click Pick a different area code, choose your state, then the area code. Click Next: Review.

Step 7: Review and submit

Read every section. Use Edit to fix anything. When it is correct, check the acknowledgment box and click Submit Registration.

After you submit

Status shows Pending Approval while carriers review, usually 5 to 7 business days. Texting turns on automatically once approved.

If registration is rejected

The rejection reason appears under SMS, then Registration. To fix it:

  1. Read the reason carefully. It usually names the specific mismatch or missing website language.
  2. Fix the underlying issue (update your website, correct the business name, and so on).
  3. Click Review Business Information, update the form, and click Resubmit Registration.

If the reason is unclear, send a screenshot of it through the help bubble in the bottom right corner of your Dewy account and we will tell you exactly what to change.
